California State Society Inaugural Luncheon and Fashion Show

Event overview: The CSS celebrated the Inauguration with a Presidential Inaugural Luncheon and Fashion Show. This event is a bipartisan celebration highlighting California’s fashion and entertainment industries presented by The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), a CSS Corporate Sponsor.
The fashion show luncheon is an entertaining and delightful show. The event begins at 11:00am with a reception and the luncheon and fashion show starts at noon.
I arrived at the Ritz Carlton at 11am and was greeted by Shirley Wilson of FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising). InaugurationEvents received invites to the luncheon and fashion show by Shirley and Amanda Hamilton of the Society. We chose to cover this event because it was so different from all other events taking place across the city during the Inauguration. At times the galas can be long and drawn out but the luncheon and fashion show was an interesting concept and we were glad we attended! FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) presented creations from some of its most illustrious designers for the fashion show.
The morning began with media check-in, photos and a reception to mingle with the other guests in attendance.
After photos and talking with guests before the reception, we headed into the ballroom to be seated at our table along with other media. One of the highlights of the event was meeting the Associate Publisher of Washington Life Magazine and him congratulating me on the work done with InaugurationEvents! Happy to hear the site was such a resource to people across the city.
The show began on schedule at noon with opening remarks and welcome by the honorable Ed Royce (chairman of the CSS). I was glad to hear that this was the 4th Inaugural Luncheon and an event that takes place for every Inauguration. The fashion show had not started yet and I was already impressed with the presentation and professionalism of staff for the society.
The program continued with remarks by Senator Dianne Feinstein, Jim Costa (Vice Chairman of the CSS) with the invocation by Rev. Gary Hall. Another highlight of the show was the remarkable performance of the National Anthem by Larry Wayne Morbitt.
Larry Wayne Morbitt, a native of Southern California, currently plays the role of Ubaldo Piangi in the Las Vegas production of The Phantom of the Opera, called PHANTOM THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR at the Venetian Hotel and Casino.
I really enjoyed the production of the fashion show. The show was broken down into several themed collections which included: The Little Black Dress Challenge, Signal Snowboards, GUESS, Barbie and the Presidential Inauguration Collection. Barbie and the Inaugural Collection were my favorites!
The show ended with the Inaugural Collection and the audience definitely gave FIDM a standing ovation with the presentation. The show was fabulous!
I ended the show giving interviews to different media on social media and how it has impacted communication, information and public relations overall for the Inauguration. Gift bags were also given out to all guests as we ended the show. The event wrapped up at about 2pm.
